It's been a while, so here is a nice long update.
First, on 6/27 we had a great BBQ at our new home to celebrate the new house as well as Peanut's arrival. The house was buzzing with great friends. Thank you to our great friend Nicole for organizing this wonderful event. We had a fantastic time. It was so nice to see people and to "warm" the new house and toast Peanut.
Second, at our MD appt 2 weeks ago there was some question whether the kiddo was growing big enough. So, today at our 32 week appointment we did an ultrasound to measure. Turns out the kid is not only growing enough, he's HUGE! Peanut weighs 4 lb 8 oz, has above average sized head and femurs, and is measuring 10 days ahead of schedule. So! He's definitely thriving and may arrive early. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. We also got a 3D picture of his face. He's pretty shy and kept burrowing in so we couldn't get a good picture. We hope to post lots of pics soon.
Finally, we've settled on a name... but we aren't telling!
Hope you are well. B&R

Peanut Update
30 Weeks Already! Can you believe it? It seems the time is melting away as the summer heats up.
Today was our 30 week appointment. We found out that I passed the "sugar test" with flying colors, so no gestational diabetes for this pod-person. We also found out that Peanut doesn't seem to have gotten any bigger since our last visit. This was measured by tummy measurement with a tape measure. As the doc says the least reliable method. He said also that Peanut could just be flipped into a different position. So, next time we will do a full ultrasound just to see how big he really is and if he has grown appropriately since the 20 week ultrasound.
Otherwise everything is going well. We are settled into the new house. Ben finished painting the nursery and put up some beautiful crown moulding. We have put together a few pieces of furniture but are still waiting on a number of things. This weekend we are having a BBQ in honor of Peanut hosted by a friend and are looking forward to that.
I promise I will give in and post a big stomach pic soon. Hope you are well.

Changes, Changes, Changes...
Since our last update we went to Vegas for a friend's wedding! It was fun, but I tell you I learned about being pregnant in 102 degree heat. Awful!
Then, this past weekend, we moved! Given that we both work in the Southwest part of the Denver Metro area, living in the Northeast wasn't really working out for us. So, Ben has shaved his commute from 60 minutes to 15 and I have cut mine from 50-70 minutes to 20-30ish. Yay!
We are now living in a very interesting house in Littleton. Pics and change of address cards will be forthcoming. We will have plenty of room for Peanut and maybe some other little nuts someday. The best part is we can take the lightrail to Rockies games.
Hope all is well,

24 Weeks & Update
Well, here is the most recent pic in the "Peanut Gallery." He has now been cookin' for 6 months! The 24 week checkup was uneventful. They were able to see his heart this time and all looks as it should. Amazing to see the little chambers doing their thing!
Ben has been able to feel the kiddo moving from the outside and even saw a kick! What a weird thing to see your stomach move! Very neat though. Hope you enjoy our first "baby pictures."

Boy, oh boy! It's gonna be a...
BOY!
Sorry to all of you who voted girl, but it is in fact a healthy baby boy. He was a bit shy at first, with legs crossed. However, we snuck up on him again and there he was spread-eagle! Definitely a boy.
Peanut is growing and developing right on schedule. The only thing we couldn't see was his heart vessels so we will get to sneak a peak at him again at our next visit!
The coolest part was seeing him kick and feeling it at the same time. Awesome.
Can't wait to meet our son!

Are you expecting?
This week was the first time someone who didn't know me asked if I was pregnant. I guess that means that the cat is out of the bag! (And the belly is sticking out.)
I am still dealing with the size changes but am glad to be looking a little more pg and not just chunky.
Only 4 days until the big reveal! Don't forget to vote.

A shell for Peanut!
Now, how cute is this? Shawna mailed this adorable onesie to us this week saying we "Just had to have it." I agree. LOVE IT!
In addition to this wonderful thing, I am almost 100% sure I felt Peanut wiggling around today. Just feels so odd. Like popcorn popping. Pretty phenomenal.

Ah, vacation.
Even short vacations are great. We are still in sunny Phoenix Arizona, but getting ready to come home today. We will be going from 80* weather to 20* weather and probably active snow. Boo.
We saw three Rockies games and they won 2 of them! We also got to spend some time with some relatives of Mary's and an old friend from high school. At the Phoenix Zoo we hung with wallabys and Ben rode a camel!
We bought Peanut a Rockies onesie to wear to Spring Training next year.
Good times.

16 Week Appointment
Today was our 16 week appointment. Nothing too exciting to report. They are doing some blood work and such, but that is all standard. We were easily able to hear the heartbeat today and it is somewhere in the mid-150's. Being a baby must be exhausting!
The doc assured us that the little "bubble" feelings I have had are Peanut moving around! So, I guess I've felt the critter a few times! I look forward to being able to feel it move more decisively but am sure once it starts kicking me I will regret saying that!
Ben & I are off to Rockies Spring Training this weekend for a little fun in the sun. It will be Peanut's first trip to Phoenix and first live baseball game!

Long Time, No Post
I had an email from a little birdie asking if everything was okay since there had been radio silence... So, here is an update!
Last week we hit 16 weeks, but I was out of town in Orlando soaking up the sun & some knowledge at a conference. I did however get to take Peanut on his/her first trip to Disney World. Something I am confident he/she will not remember. However I did buy the cutest Tigger outfit.
Last week Ben & I signed up for our first baby class that we will take in May. That made things a little more real! Tomorrow is our 16 week appointment and we will let you know how it goes.
Remember, voting on gender closes 4/15!

Pup-date
First Trimester Screen
We got a call from the doc yesterday and all looks great with the First Trimester screen. This means that the baby has very low odds of being born with Downs Syndrome and other genetic abnormalities. We also tested negative for Cystic Fybrosis.
Ben of course is already trying to teach Peanut numbers. I think we are on twelve...

Welcome to the Griffith Life!
So, Ben and I are really not "blog" people, but here it goes anyway. We thought this might be a good way for our friends and family far and wide to keep up with our lives and check in on how the baby growin' is goin'. Thus, here it is, the first edition of "The Griffith Life." If anyone has an idea for a snappier title, lay it on me.
Here is an update on the current status of our lives. Ben & I are both working in the Southwest corner of the Denver Metro area but sadly reside in the Northeast corner. Needless to say, this is pretty lame and uses a lot of gas. So, the house is on the market, come take a peek!
We have officially turned the corner into the promised-land of the second trimester. Things are getting better, but not all of the joys of the first trimester have passed just yet. Yes, we will definitely be finding out what we are having but that happy day is not until 4/16. Until that time we are taking guesses on this page. Cast your vote now!
Well, we are off to our February date (yes, it is March but we are calling it February +1) at the Denver Zoo. Hope you are all well.
